Abstract
Imagine the word "board", and what do you see? A material-laminated surface? Boring? So why not try to change this image... Let's try for a less flat surface design, but not with the traditional methods, like using a knife or bending the panel. What happens if we try to use scrap or trash material or new materials which have been assembled as composites especially for this occasion and which utilize the 3D-techology? We get a nicely decorated board, ready to use. Why not interlace our materials to then bond them with PU or EVA? What do you see when you hear "interlace"? Just imagine a visual realization of the designs in a leather, foil or paper wrap. They can be used as separating walls, wall panelling or decor for wardrobes and tables. Looks great, doesn't it?

Panel statement:
The idea of the project "Trash Art" departs from the fact that a wrapping coating usually needs a base substrate - and this is the surface which is designed, without, however, reverting to the old methods of using metal tooling processes to change the surface. Galina Nikolaeva Mihailova and Hristo Vassilev Raynov have come up with the idea to create these structures by interlacing or creating fabric-specific compounds in a very low-cost production of substrates and recycling materials. The panel recognized this project for its ecological and sustained-source approach, making alternative uses of discarded consumer goods, and also for the basic idea of allowing surface structures to develop while undergoing additive assembly processes.
