New technologies always open up paths to new forms of expression. They are like a new musical instrument for the interpretation of product design. Beyond the imitation of traditional things, fully developed three-dimensional coating technology provides completely new and undreamt of possibilities for modern furniture and industrial design. - This is precisely the purpose of the Design Competition.
The challenge it lays down is aimed at norm-breakers and anyone who not only seeks to give free rein to their imagination, but also, open to the future, desires that special challenge of combining modern technology with pioneering ideas.
We are looking for designs of furniture and industrial products that find new ways of stretching the potential of three-dimensional coating technology to its limits - or which perhaps even extend the limits of its use. Superficial product makeovers are not required. Instead, bold, independent designs whose plasticity and materiality, colour and tactility express the character of our modern world.
In this way the Competition stands in conscious opposition to an age of reticent buyers in which the focus everywhere is on dull, price-dictated goods. It aims to stimulate playfully emotional, uninhibitedly experimental, powerful designs which make full use of the special possibilities of modern coating technologies.
