Abstract
Actual trends in interior design are adapting to the nomad way of life of the global generation. Statics are dead. Long live mobility. Chair is a response to this basic idea, being a piece of furniture which can easily be assembled and disassembled, which can be adapted to multiple uses, whether at home at the kitchen counter, or as barstool in a temporary cocktail bar. Chair is mobile and flexible. Chair combines the technical possibilities of foils, giving them hinge, closing and interlocking functions, as well as airpadding functions, beyond the conventional uses as protective cover and surface layer for optical appeal.
Panel statement:
"Chair" is an extremely lightweight seat which can also be easily "disassembled", representing in its reduced design something like a symbol for the modern nomad way of life. The group entry is most convincing upon taking a second look, because the three-dimensional lamination takes on totally new functions. The conventional surface treatment, which finalizes a three-dimensional formed piece for the eye, is extended in a substantial way, by getting such technical functions as: hinge function between seat and legs, closing function between the legs, and the airpad (foil format becomes responsible for form). This approach signalled extraordinary potential to the panel due to the surprising new coating functions, creating possibilities for expanding the areas of application of modern 3D technology far beyond the limits of our actual knowledge. The entry represents therefore a real challenge for technical innovation of the coating materials, of adhesives and adhesive technologies.
